Surveying Sculptures in St Ives

At Kemp, we’re proud to get the opportunity to work on such a broad range of projects.

One of our measured building surveyors, Kieran, got to work on a very interesting project recently. Kieran took to St Ives to scan a Barbara Hepworth Sculpture prior to development taking place in the sculpture’s location.

Kieran’s job was to accurately scan where the sculpture is positioned so that it can be placed exactly in the same place after work has completed.

Kieran used state-of-the-art laser scanning technology to capture the precise placement of the sculpture within its setting. This highly accurate data means that when the area is redeveloped, the sculpture can be reinstated exactly where it once was preserving both its artistic impact and its original context.

Projects like this highlight the vital role surveying plays in protecting heritage and cultural landmarks during modern construction. It’s not just about measurements, it’s about maintaining the integrity of the spaces we all value.

We’re proud to support developments that respect Cornwall’s rich artistic legacy, and to be trusted with such meaningful work.
