Kemp Engineering & Surveying provides land, building, engineering and utility surveying services for tourism and visitor-focused projects.
From visitor attractions and heritage sites to hotels, resorts and wider tourism developments, we provide accurate survey data to support planning, design, construction, refurbishment, maintenance and estate management.
Our surveyors use modern surveying technology and established techniques to capture the information your project needs.
Whether you’re developing a new visitor facility, refurbishing an existing building, improving an attraction or managing a complex tourism estate, we can provide reliable data to help you make confident decisions.
Tourism sites can throw up particularly varied surveying challenges. They often combine buildings, landscaped areas, public spaces, infrastructure, utilities, historic structures and complex external environments, frequently while still operating as visitor destinations.
Whether you’re planning a new attraction, extending a hotel, refurbishing a heritage building, improving visitor facilities or managing an established estate, reliable survey data helps you understand what’s already there before work begins.
Kemp provides surveying and engineering services that can be tailored to your tourism project.
Accurate measured building surveys, elevations and sections for buildings ranging from individual properties through to larger and more complex sites, to support refurbishment, extension, redevelopment, maintenance, facilities management and design work. Outputs can include 2D CAD, PDF, E57, ReCap and Revit formats, depending on project requirements.
Our topographical surveys capture the visible features, levels, structures and terrain of a site, giving you a detailed foundation for planning and design; useful for tourism developments involving buildings, landscaping, access routes, car parks, visitor facilities and wider estate areas.
Through our specialist utility survey division, Seeka, we provide PAS 128 utility surveys and mapping to help establish the location of underground services and infrastructure, supporting excavation, redevelopment, landscaping, new construction and infrastructure works where knowing what’s already there matters.
3D scanning technology lets us capture detailed information about buildings and environments and create point cloud data for design, BIM and other digital workflows; useful for complex or difficult-to-survey spaces.
Digital twin surveys create an immersive, navigable digital representation of a site or building. Kemp’s digital twin service combines 3D scanning technology with measurable spaces, panoramic imagery, point cloud exports and BIM-compatible outputs, suited to hospitality and visitor attractions as well as property, construction, education and healthcare projects.
Drone surveying is an efficient way to capture aerial imagery and survey data across larger sites, difficult-to-access areas and complex landscapes. Kemp has used UAV technology for surveying since 2014, including on major infrastructure projects, and continues to use aerial techniques for topographical surveys, inspections and visual data collection.
Where tourism projects move into construction, our setting out and engineering survey services support contractors in positioning proposed works accurately and checking construction against design information.
Once works are complete, as-built surveys provide an accurate record of what’s actually been built, supporting handover, future maintenance and ongoing estate management.

We start by discussing your project, site, objectives and how you intend to use the survey information. Whether it’s a new tourism development, refurbishment, maintenance programme or wider estate strategy, understanding the end use helps us set the right survey scope and methodology.
Before attending site, we consider access, site conditions, project requirements and any specific challenges that could affect the survey. For tourism and visitor sites, that often means understanding the operational environment and working out the best way to collect the information needed.
Our surveyors attend site with the equipment and techniques the project calls for; this may include total stations, GPS, laser scanning, drones and other survey equipment. We capture the buildings, land, levels, structures and features the agreed survey requires.
After fieldwork, we process and check the collected information to produce accurate survey drawings, models, point clouds or other agreed outputs, in formats to suit your design and project team.
Where required, we can explain how the survey was carried out, including survey control, datum and any relevant site limitations. The completed information is then delivered in the agreed format for your project.
Our involvement doesn’t have to end when the survey is delivered. We’re available to answer questions, discuss the survey information and support further requirements as your project develops.
Kemp Engineering principally serves Devon, Cornwall and the wider South West, and also supports projects further afield. Our regional knowledge, combined with experience across construction, infrastructure, property, education, healthcare and visitor environments, means we can put together surveying solutions for a wide range of tourism-related projects.
Whether you’re developing a visitor attraction, managing a hospitality estate, refurbishing a heritage property or delivering new tourism infrastructure, we can tailor our surveying services around your project.

It starts with experience and technical capability. Kemp has been providing engineering and surveying services since 1988, with our surveying work expanding into topographical and measured building surveys following our involvement in the construction of the Eden Project. Our utility survey division, Seeka, was established in 2006 and has carried out major underground utility surveys for complex sites including hospitals, schools and highway schemes.
We’re a Chartered Surveying practice regulated by RICS, with multidisciplinary geomatics services in-house. So where a project needs several different types of survey information, we can provide a coordinated approach rather than treating each requirement in isolation.
We support a broad range of tourism and visitor-focused projects, including visitor attractions, hospitality environments, heritage properties, tourism developments, estates and associated infrastructure.
Yes. Kemp provides measured building, topographical, utility, 3D and other surveying services that can be tailored to existing buildings and wider sites.
