Meet The Team: Harrison Fawcett, Setting Out Engineer

Harrison began his career in surveying as an apprentice with another local company, before transferring to Kemp in January 2019 to complete his qualification. Now, several years on, he’s a key part of our team, working on setting out projects across the Southwest.

No two days are the same for Harrison. He’s often travelling between sites, liaising with clients and making sure every detail is spot on. He shared that one of the best things about working at Kemp is the team atmosphere and the company’s willingness to support everyone’s individual needs.

“Kemp is such a good firm to work for – they’re really organised, and I’ve had so many opportunities here.”

When asked about the most memorable project he’s worked on so far, Harrison chose the Newquay Strategic Route flyover. This major infrastructure project includes two bridges that will eventually connect the Nansledan development to the A392 at Hendra roundabout. It stood out to Harrison not just for its scale, but for the technical challenges involved and the buzz of contributing to something that will have such a lasting impact on the area.

It’s not just in his work life that Harrison enjoys being outdoors. Outside of work he can be found surfing the Cornish coast, skateboarding, motorcycling, and playing the guitar all whilst travelling around in his campervan. If Harrison wasn’t surveying, he’d be working with animals, monkeys to be precise, at Monkey World in Dorset. And continuing the animal theme, He would love to visit Aoshima in Japan also known as ‘Cat Island’ as a big animal lover an island with more cats than people sounds like paradise to Harrison.
