Dave Wallington

Project Director
Known affectionally to many of us as “Big Dave”, Dave Wallington has been at Kemp since 2003 and has been our Project Survey Manager for some of the South West’s most prestigious projects including Drakes Circus Shopping centre in Plymouth, A30 Innis Down to Indian Queens (Goss Moor), Newquay Airport Transition, Cornwall Incinerator enabling works, A391 Carclaze extension and most recently the A30 Carland to Chiverton scheme.

Dave began his surveying career in 1989 as a trainee engineering surveyor with Tarmac Major Projects on the A30 Okehampton to Launceston project before progressing to Senior Engineering Surveyor with Tarmac having been deployed at the M3 Winchester By-pass, A50 Derby Southern By-Pass, London Underground Track renewals, 9 Dock Submarine facility in Devonport and the M6 Toll Road in Birmingham.

With such an extensive portfolio of projects it’s difficult for Dave to pick out a favourite but the M6 Toll Road where Machine Control was first deployed in the UK has got to be a highlight along with the A30 Goss Moor project where he ran our team of seven surveyors “from fence lines to white lines” on what turned out to be one of the last projects undertaken by the iconic contractor Alfred McAlpine.

Outside of work Dave is an avid, lifelong Manchester United fan although he has become less vocal about this in recent years! Dave is married with three grown up daughters and when he’s not spending time with them, he enjoys a night of pool in the local pub with United on the pub TV, of course!
