Meet The Team: Connor, Asset and QA Management

A Non-Traditional Path to Kemp

Connor’s route into his role at Kemp was far from traditional. After a couple of years working in the police, he began looking for a career that offered more consistency at home and made childcare easier to manage. Having previously worked with Kemp as a utility surveyor, he reached out to the company at the perfect time. Scott offered him the opportunity to return, this time blending administrative tasks with utility survey processing. From there, his role naturally evolved, shifting gradually towards larger administrative projects and ultimately shaping the position he now has.

Career Journey and Experience

In total, Connor has spent just over three years with Kemp, first completing around eighteen months as a utility surveyor before returning in his current capacity, where he has been for year and a half so far. His first step into the company came after leaving retail management, driven by the desire to learn something completely new and build a long-term, fulfilling career.

One of the things Connor values most about working at Kemp is the company’s commitment to its people.

“In construction, people often move around a lot, but Scott genuinely invests in his team. It creates a work environment where you’re encouraged to grow, learn and build real relationships with the people you work with.”

Daily Responsibilities

These days, Connor’s work is almost entirely office-based. A typical day involves a balance of day-to-day administrative tasks and a rotation of larger monthly projects. He oversees the company’s vehicles, equipment, and a substantial portion of HR responsibilities, often booking in services, keeping paperwork and spreadsheets up to date, and ensuring the wider business runs smoothly. As each month progresses, he turns his attention to preparing review data, carrying out quality audits, managing credit control, and continuing to refine processes across the company.

One of his standout achievements to date has been the design and implementation of Kemp’s intranet system. The platform has transformed internal processes and now serves as an important training and resource hub for colleagues.

If he wasn’t working in his current role, Connor imagines he would pursue something in data analysis. Through his time at Kemp, he’s discovered a real passion for breaking down datasets and presenting information in clear, engaging ways- something he finds surprisingly satisfying.

Life Outside Work

Outside of work, life revolves around his young children. Having a role that no longer demands weekend shifts means they can spend more time together as a family, making the most of the rare sunshine in the Cornish countryside. Away from family time, he describes himself as “geeky at heart” and any free moments are usually spent immersed in single-player RPGs or horror games.

If he could travel anywhere in the world, Japan sits firmly at the top of his wish list. Connor is drawn to the contrast between futuristic cities and peaceful rural landscapes, as well as the country’s historic temples, an experience he feels would be worlds apart from everyday life in the UK.
