The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have published a revised document on avoiding danger from underground services. HSG47 provides important health and safety guidance for all those involved in excavation and underground works. It also applies to those not directly involved in excavation, such as those who provide plans and design service routes.
For cost-effective site mark-outs (including or excluding plastic utilities), A combination of ground penetrating radar coupled with electromagnetic induction and radio detection are the primary tools employed.
Detected services are marked on the ground in colour coded biodegradable paint by utility type. A diagrammatic site sketch is produced and left with the client along with any limitations of the survey.
Seeka Utility Surveys can be applied to a wide range of projects and as well as being a comprehensive and convenient method of identifying the precise location of utilities, it is cost-effective and safer compared with traditional excavation methods.
